Tuesday, March 31st, 2009Status Update 3/31/2008
Tuesday, March 31st, 2009I have no updates from this weekend, but Sarah did visit Mike last night. He was quiet and not very responsive. During the day, the nurses say that he was quite active and had PT, so probably he was just tuckered out. Please stay tuned, and don’t forget to check the Events page.
Status Update 3/28/2009
Saturday, March 28th, 2009This update is based on Sarah’s visit on Friday with Mike. He was much more responsive than the last visit. He made kissy face again when Sarah came in, and was reaching for her when she leaned over him. After the nursing staff came in to move him (to prevent pressure sores), he seemed tired again, and was not as responsive. Today, 3/28, we had the scooter wash. I got there around 1 PM, and washed a few cars, but no bikes or scooters. Kieran tells me that there were scooters and bikes early on, from 12 to 1. The wash was a success, so many thanks to everyone who came out to show support, or to pitch in and wash, or to have something washed and make a donation. I have a lovely sunburn to show for it. Remember your sunscreen, folks. Stay tuned, we have the fish fry at the Tiny Tap coming up April 26. Robin is planning a benefit hair cutting at her salon in May, and we hope to have a concert, art show, bake sale, yard sale, and whatever else we can think of over the next several months. Contact margareteldridge@yahoo.com to help, donate items for auction, etc. Thanks a bunch! –Margaret
Status Update 3/26/2009
Friday, March 27th, 2009Sarah tells me that there was not much change in Mike’s condition on her Wednesday visit. He was not as active and responsive as he had been over the weekend. He was breathing heavy and seemed to be in pain. He had not had his pain meds all day, so was probably exhausted from being in pain. There are plans in the works by the hospital to move him to some sort of rehab facility instead of the hospital. Please come out this weekend to the scooter wash event at Vespa of St. Pete to show your support. Sarah will be there, so you can offer words of comfort and encouragement in person. Thanks again for your continued support. This is likely to be a long road, and the family needs your help to stay strong for Mike.

Another Effort to Help
Thursday, March 26th, 2009Thanks so much to everyone who is pitching in to help Mike and Sarah! Don’t forget we have a Scooter Wash Benefit at Vespa of St. Pete this Saturday from 12 to 4. Efforts to help are in the works from kind people and scooter clubs all over the USA: http://scooter-relief.org/
Many, many thanks!

Status Update 3/25/2009 6:45 PM
Wednesday, March 25th, 2009Mike reached for Sarah’s hand when she came in today. He was moving his legs quite a bit–almost kicking. Mike had physical therapy to exercise his legs and was placed in a chair for a while to change positions and avoid pressure sores. He is still not “awake” but we are hopeful at the small signs of progress. Thanks for checking back!

Status Update 3/24/2009 7:00 PM
Wednesday, March 25th, 2009Sarah reports that Mike is doing about the same as observed this weekend. He seems tired, but is occasionally responsive. He is being moved to a private room today (Tuesday).
Debbie's Visit With Mike on 3/23/2009
Tuesday, March 24th, 2009I visited with my brother today, and for the first time, I felt encouraged. It’s good to see him moving around. He is definitely messing with those squishy balls. I watched him THROW one across the room. I don’t know who put them there with him but it’s a darn good idea! [Editorial note: Margaret brought them.] He has the world in his hands. I said something to Mike privately today and he reached his hand for mine. It was wonderful. I watched as our mother took his hand and he reached his other one out and used both of his hands to hold hers. I loved seeing him react to having his buddies drop by. It was nice to meet them myself. Sarah, thanks for loving and caring so much for Mike. You and Ian make all the difference. There may be a LONG way to go, but today helped make it seem shorter. I can’t wait till Michael and I sit down to chat and
have a cup of coffee together. We have a lot of catching up to do. I’m encouraged by today and I look forward to better tomorrows.

Hello from jenykat
Monday, March 23rd, 2009Hi Sarah. I check in every day to view Mike’s progress. I continue to pray for you all.
My thoughts (and Jimmy's) are with you
Monday, March 23rd, 2009To Sarah and Ian, God Bless you and the rest of your family and find strength there. I have always admired Mike; he’s beat me at more than one game of pool, and served me countless beers at the Tiny Tap. He is a strong man, and I have every hope and belief that he will pull through this and be back in our company in due time. I saw the donation jug at TT and made a donation. Was laid off from my job of four years, but I will be making additional donations each chance I get, knowing that every little bit counts. Mike has so many good friends, he is at the forefront of all of our minds. Jimmy and I think of Mike often and speaking for myself, I pray for his recovery daily, without fail. Sarah, if there is anything I can do, please let me know–no matter what it is. Jimmy lives down by you guys and I live in Hyde Park. If you need someone to go grocery shopping, babysitting, cleaning your place, running errands here in Tampa, ANYTHING you can think of, I will gladly do. If the guys need help with their landscaping to keep Mike’s clients in place, I can do that as well, as I am currently unemployed and have lots of time on my hands. My phone is 813-417-xxxx. If there is something I can do that I have not thought of, you let me know.
